Every Day Carry Essentials
An every day carry, better known as an EDC is known in the firearm realm as a weapon, or sidearm. A sidearm that’s practically your wing-man, should any dangerous circumstance arise. An every day carry weapon is essential to those who do anything from manage businesses to reposes vehicles. Odds are if you’ve got an EDC firearm you’re in the police force, have been enlisted in the military at a point in time, or just keep it for the peace of mind. Although, you can be a lover of guns, feel safety through your EDC, or simply just want to have a gun on your hip at all times. Many types of ever day carries have risen over the years with the advancements in firearms, and laws presiding states and their carry laws.
Whether you’re Doc Holliday, sporting a nice and large .357 magnum, or you’re Jason Bourne with a tight, compact 9mm, an every day carry can vary by size of weapon and caliber. Caliber is one thing to take into consideration. Caliber is usually justified by how comfortable you are with the weapon, and how much bang you’d like in your buck. You won’t see many small men or women packing a desert eagle, now will you? The .40, .45, and 9mm calibers take quite a liking to Americans. Whether it be a 1911, ACP, or both, those three calibers rule the compact, concealed everyday carry. Every day carries should also be based off of how much practice you’ve had with the weapon. Any smart, armed citizen wouldn’t be carrying a gun they’ve never fired, nor had enough range time with. In the event of a dangerous situation, you’d strive for accuracy, and consistency.
Another aspect of an every day carry is multiple magazines, if any. Some men and women that go all-out with their every day carries are people who pack multiple magazines. There’s nothing worse than being in a life-or-death situation, and running out of ammunition. They always say, better safe than sorry.
Between the years of 2007 to 2012 many, many people were saved because of the use of a firearm by an armed civilian. Specifically, in the 2007 case of New Life Church in Colorado. A woman who was a member of the church stopped the onslaught of murder sanctioned by Matthew J. Murray. Armed citizens all over the country feel as though they play a role, because they do. There’s no stopping a bad guy with a gun, like a good guy with a gun. Men and women with registered, legal firearms pose no threat because they’ve had the training and experience on how to properly use a firearm.
Recently, the State of Texas passed a law pertaining to concealed carry on campuses in Texas.
“The new Texas law will permit individuals who have obtained a concealed handgun license (CHL) to carry their loaded, concealed weapon in college and university buildings. Each college and university may determine certain sensitive areas and buildings* where concealed weapons will continue to be prohibited.” – An excerpt from ArmedCampuses.com
This new Texas law could possibly be implemented by other states. We hope to see more armed citizens with the proper credentials and training on the streets, to help keep America safe.
